גרסת CTP מספר 3 השתחררה בשעה טובה לפלפטורמת SQL Server 2016 שנימצאת בשלבי פיתוח במעבדות מייקרוסופט בארץ (וגם בחו"ל... :) ).

העדכון השלישי עמוס ביכולות חדשות ובשיפורים חדשים. 

בעדכון החדש אנו נחשפים ליכולת מגניבה ושימושית - RRE Integration לטובת אינטגרציה של בסיס הנתונים עם R.

עוד שיפורים רבים ניתן לראות כמעט בכל רבדי ה- SQL SERVER , ב- in memory, במנוע עצמו, ב- SSMS, ב- SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, MDS  ועוד ...

SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1 is now available

שלום רב,

בשעה טובה שוחררה גרסת העדכון הראשונה לפלטפורמת sql server 2014.
בעדכון מספר תיקונים ליכולות החדשות בפלטפורמה.

לפני ההתקנה שימו לב להערה של צוות ה- SSIS:
Notice: The SQL SSIS team has found an issue with SP1 installation if SSIS catalog is present in the SQL Server instance.They are currently investigating this issue including possible workarounds and fixes.

Dynamic Management Views for increased supportability:
sys.dm_exec_query_stats DMV is extended with additional columns to improve supportabilities over troubleshooting long-running queries. New DMVs and XEvents on select performance counters are introduced to monitor OS configurations and resource conditions related to the SQL Server instance.

ForceSeek for improved querying performance :
Syntax for FORCESEEK index hint has been modified to take optional parameters allowing it to control the access method on the index even further. Using old style syntax for FORCESEEK remains unmodified and works as before. In addition to that, a new query hint, FORCESCAN has been added. It complements the FORCESEEK hint allowing specifying ‘scan’ as the access method to the index. No changes to applications are necessary if you do not plan to use this new functionality.

Data-tier Application Component Framework (DAC Fx) for improved database upgradest:
The new Data-tier Application (DAC) Framework v1.1 and DAC upgrade wizard enable the new in-place upgrade service for database schema management. The new in-place upgrade service will upgrade the schema for an existing database in SQL Azure and the versions of SQL Server supported by DAC. A DAC is an entity that contains all of the database objects and instance objects used by an application. A DAC provides a single unit for authoring, deploying, and managing the data-tier objects. For more information, see Designing and Implementing Data-tier Applications.

Disk space control for PowerPivot:
This update introduces two new configuration settings that let you determine how long cached data stays in the system. In the new Disk Cache section on the PowerPivot configuration page, you can specify how long an inactive database remains in memory before it is unloaded. You can also limit how long a cached file is kept on disk before it is deleted.

• Reporting Services in SharePoint Integrated Mode - SQL Server 2008 SP2 provides updates for Reporting Services integration with SharePoint products. SQL Server 2008 SP2 report servers can integrate with SharePoint 2010 products. SQL Server 2008 SP2 also provides a new add-in to support the integration of SQL Server 2008 R2 report servers with SharePoint 2007 products. • SQL Server 2008 R2 Application and Multi-Server Management Compatibility with SQL Server 2008.

Cumulative Update Package 9 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3

מייקרוסופט שיחררה עדכון ל- SP3 :

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 hotfixes are created for specific SQL Server service packs. You must apply a SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 hotfix to an installation of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3. By default, any hotfix that is provided in a SQL Server service pack is included in the next SQL Server service pack.

Cumulative Update 9 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 contains hotfixes for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 issues that have been fixed since the release of SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3.

SQL Server Servicing plans
Hello Community, we appreciate your recent comments regarding the servicing needs of your current SQL Server configurations. We want to assure you that we are fully committed to our existing customer base, hence hereby clarification around our near term servicing deliverables:

SQL Server 2008 SP2 - Microsoft targets release in Q3/CY2010.

SQL Server 2005 SP4 - You overwhelmingly requested another servicing release for SQL Server 2005. Given your feedback Microsoft targets now such release in Q4/CY2010.

Based on current support volume as well as the fact that SQL Server 2005 will enter into extended support on 4/13/2011 we anticipate this to be the last Service Pack release for this SQL Server version.

Extended support for SQL Server 2005 will be available through 4/12/2016.

As always, the SQL Server team will carefully monitor customer feedback as well as support volume to re-assess our decisions based on your needs.
